It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A...

My brother's a little deaf, and therefore plays music from his computer a little too loud. (Doug if you're reading this, it's okay I forgive you.) Because of this I get a rough idea of just what kind of music he and his "generation" listen to. There's so much talk about bands who were previously unknown now seeping into what they call mainstream. One perfect example, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE or MCR in short.

I'm not an advocate of punks/rebels/what-else who "hate" people who start listening to bands just because everyone else is. It wasn't THAT long ago when I started listening to them, introduced by Haikal(is it?). I liked their music, so I listened, downloaded, etc. These people probably have their own reasons for what they feel, I won't go into that.

What does bug me is the potential shit that may arise. First, they're being shown on MTV and played on the radio. Overplayed. I fear the worst - that they may end up with the fate similar to Hoobastank's "The Reason". Way too over-played, over-performed and eventually I came to hate the song altogether. But I guess that's just me.

This picture was taken in HMV quite a long time ago (not by me). I thought the MCR albums used to be hidden away on the second level but I guess that isn't the case anymore. In fact, you would be lucky to see THREE CHEERS FOR SWEET REVENGE on shelves together with the likes of Busted and Good Charlotte. As much as it angers many to see MCR albums placed together with Busted ones(pun intended), a band commonly known to be like Backstreet Boys just with guitars, I wonder how they feel knowing that MCR is actually sold out in HMV. MCR is becoming a household name and at the rate it's going, so will other 'unknown' bands. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate anyone for this nor do I wish it didn't happen. Sure, everyone should listen to what they like. It's just the overdose that bugs me.

Oh well, at least those people won't need to suffer the experience of seeing the above picture in real life. I just hope that you don't go over to a friends place and hear MCR blaring from his baby sister's room. "I'm not okaaaaay......"

heh

You sound like you're afraid that the music you listen to will become pop culture? Most people would like the stuff they listen to to get more appreciation. Well, trends change.

Wassap bro...check out my blog...http://burnedsoul.blogspot.com
